Septic System

What is a Septic System?

Some may think that a septic system is a hole in the ground into which our sewage magically goes away, and of course without any concern for whether we are polluting our own backyard environment.

In reality, at the minimum end of the spectrum, a septic system is a mechanical, biological, and hydraulic process that helps us to safely release our wastes into our home environments.

At the opposite end of the spectrum, a septic system allows us to make multiple and beneficial use of the wastewater as a part of the necessary and responsible management of our whole water resource.

Be aware that all waters (stormwater, wastewater, etc.) are actually water, and we are entering that time where there will be no such thing as wastewater.
